Because I knew that I would need help, Paul and I scheduled an appointment with an infertility specialist for right after we got married. We just knew that the whole process could take some time and we both knew we wanted to be fairly young parents. RESOLVE states that 11.9% of women have received infertility services of some kind. We started with a whole lot of testing, ultrasounds, etc. And then we came up with a plan. Oral meds and a trigger shot for when we had a follicle that was ready. The oral medications didn't do anything so we moved on to injectables.
This has already been such an emotional journey with excitement and disappointment. It also has been really good for our relationship. Wanting something so bad together has made us just lean on each other more and has brought us closer to each other and God. We know that it will all be worth it. Paul knows more about the female reproduction system than he probably ever imagined that he would, bless his heart! We both have also learned that once we find what works, we are down to playing a statistics game. Did you know that a "normal couple" with no issues, has only about a 20% chance of getting pregnant on any given month? With our infertility treatments we have a 15% chance on every given month. We really are just trying to beat statistics. This journey will someday be worth it, and until then we will continue to pray and continue to grow closer to each other and to God.
